Omar bin Khatab Primary in Dhobley

Omar Bin Khatab Primary school is located in the town of Dhobley in the province of Lower Juba. The town is on the border between Somalia and the Republic of Kenya. The area has experienced fierce battles after the invasion of Kenyan forces in the region, which had a negative impact on the growth of the school and its development. The school uses a modest school building built of tree branches and its furniture has become out of date.

School Achievement

The achievement of the school was minimal due to the deteriorating security situation in the region. However there are some points that need to be mentioned, including:

1. The school work has continued despite the difficult security conditions.

2. Restoration of whole school building and renovation of its ground.

3. Training of teachers and the Head Teacher.

School Needs

1. Finding new school building that can cope with the school requirement.

2. Refurnishing all classes because the old furniture is not suitable to be used in the school environment.

3. Supplying the school with equipments and tools that can help to fulfil its mission, including computers and other teaching aids.

4. Training teachers and administrative staff in the school to upgrade their professional performance.
