Iftin Primary School in Borama

Iftin Primary School is located on the far side of the Somali Republic on the border between Somalia and the Republic of Djibouti. The school consists of eight classes, and uses a building owned by the school. The importance of education in this part of the country is well known and one of the most important universities in the region, namely the University of Amud, exists in the area.

Achievements
.
1. To keep up with the continuous increase of students two fully furnished new classrooms have been added to the school building and two more classes were refurbished. This new addition and renovation was funded by HAA with the participation of residents and members of the local community.

2. To improve the overall performance of the school teachers and administrators have received trainings in their respective fields during 2011.
3. The number of students in the school has increased to fill the capacity and size of the school (45 new students).

School Needs

1. More attention should be given to the means and devices that help the school to improveits performance, such as: providing a computer lab, an office for school, and teaching aids.

2. Refurnishing and renovation of classes. 3. Training of teaching and administrative staff, to upgrade their professional performance in the future.

4. More emphasis should be given to the various school activities (extracurricular activities) to encourage the talents of students.
